Tube Coping Calculator

I’m a big fan of on-line calculators while designing and fabricating. I regularly use a host of trigonometry and geometry on-line calculators and there are tons of others on the web.

But sometimes you need to calculate something very specific to metal working — like a tube coping — that does not easily fall out of simply geometry.

Tube coping is when you are tying to attach the end of one pipe or tube seamlessly to the side of another. You need to cut a complex curve on the end of the one pipe so that it interfaces smoothly with the side of the other. I’ve tried to do it free hand and it’s a huge pain. You can buy a tool that lets you do this but they aren’t cheep and can only interface with a set tube/pipe size.

Well, now, thanks to MetalGeek all you have to do is use this handy on-line tube coping calculator that produces a .pdf file of the profile of the curve you need to cut. Wrap it around your pipe, scribe the line and then cut.
